A&E and the Dog
Looks like the future for Duane "Dog" Chapman's program is gin jeopardy. After the audio phone recording of the Dog going on a racist rant was made public A&E has suspended airing the program. If advertiser's start to bolt then the Dog can kiss his career goodbye.
I was never a big reality TV series fan although I did like the first couple seasons of MTV's the REAL WORLD back int he day, but for some reason I had become a regular viewer of DOG and INKED for a couple years. (I stopped watching when the programs started becoming too "same old, same old.") I think I found the programs by deciding to check out A&E to see what was airing on the network as it is a network that often has solid programming. I had become a regular follower of COLD CASE FILES and AMERICAN JUSTICE as these are tremendous A&E programs.
I had been a regular Saturday afternoon watcher of A&E a decade ago when it was airing a ton of great historical programming. I also would check out A&E because it was a one time solid classic TV program airing COLUMBO, THE AVENGERS (A&E video released the complete run of existing episodes of this series) THE ROCKFORD FILES, QUINCY and others. And, of course, BIOGRAPHY is a solid program as well.
Reality programs, however, did not seem like a solid mix for A&E (after all, the initials stand for "Arts and Entertainment" and reality TV was always considered lowbrow and not a solid fit for A&E. Then, a few reality programs on the channel did well in the ratings DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER ended up being the network's biggest hit.
But, it looks like the Dog is about to be put to sleep.
