Moon Knight Television Series?

Marvel's Batman inspired superhero Moon Knight has always been one of my favorite "B Grade" Marvel characters mainly because his stories were generally well written and the character could be inspiring despite the fact that it was a highly derivative character. Now, I thought I knew a lot about Moon Knight, but something about a Moon Knight television series has surfaced.

No folks there isn't a new Moon Knight television series on the horizon. Apparently, there was an old Moon Knight series that aired in Japan in the 1970's. Or was there? Upon reading an essay by Moon Knight's creator Doug Moench that was reprinted in the recently released ESSENTIAL MOON KNIGHT VOL TWO there is a passing reference to the fatc that Moon Knight had his own TV series in Japan. Folks, this is the first time I have ever heard of such a thing which makes me wonder if there was an actual TV series. I do remember that there was a Japanese Spiderman series in th 1970's  that was pretty bad, but to my knowledge there was never a Moon Knight series. Was Moench mistaken or was he referring to a character that was loosely inspired by Moon Knight?

For that matter, did an animated version of Moon Knight ever appear on any of the animated Marvel programs?
