Game Show Book For Those Who Are Fans

I had written a little bit about the Gameshow Network a few weeks ago and thought I take some time out to make a recommendation for a decent book on the subject.

There was a book I purchased a LONG time ago called The Encyclopedia of TV Game Shows by David Schwartz, Steve Ryan, and Fred Wostbrock and it is a solid book on the subject. More specifically, it is a solid reference book on the subject.  While this is not necessarily a lively read, it is a great book in terms of the fact that it provides a significant number of details on a variety of game shows that have graced the small screen.

What I dig the most about this reference book is the fact that it covers a number of game shows that were short lived. When I was a kid there was a kind of fun game show called CHILD'S PLAY that featured kids who were about my age. This was a fun show, but it would seem the ratings were awful and the program was canceled after maybe one season in 1981. There are a ton of obscure game shows mentioned in this book and that makes it a valuable item for any game show or pop culture fanatic.
