Additional Words on Sitcoms and Cost Savings

I guess if I had to lodge a complaint against the producers of sitcoms in regards to cutting costs I would have to say that they went too far. It seems like modern sitcoms absolutely refuse to spend any money or really put any effort into expanding the premise of the sitcom beyond the same old, same old every week. Sure, Happy Days would get railed on by critics for silly episodes like taking the family to visit a dude ranch, but come on...at least it kept the series from being predictable. Ok, it also made the series somewhat ridiculous as well, but that is another story altogether.

The main reason I stopped watching sitcoms was because they just stopped being funny. The set up line/punch line format gets rapidly dull over time and I tuned out of it. The second reason is that it is monstrously repetitive and boring and there is only so much boredom a human being can take. I packed my bags and headed to cable TV with a lot of other people....and I also believe that the viewing numbers on some of these sitcoms are inflated, but that is another story altogether as well.
