Tobor the 8th Man
Ah, does anyone remember the very cool and early anime production that reached American shores in the 1960's?
Does anyone remember its very cool theme song?
There's a prehistoric monster who came from outer space,
Created my the Martians to destroy the human race.
The F.B.I. is helpless, it's 20 stories tall,
What can we do?
Who can we call?
Call TOBOR, The 8th Man
Call TOBOR, The 8th Man
Yup, TOBOR is Robot spelled backwards...and Tobor was one very entertaining black and white anime hero show and I thought we could tip our hats to it today. This was an excellent animated series that was probably the first Japanese animated series to reach the US shores in the early 1960's, but it seemingly did not receive much of the acclaim or longevity as other animated series had reached. The reason for this is that the series was filmed in black and white and that probably worked against it when color television emerged. What a shame.
