I have a great deal to say about this legendary icon, but since this is a TV blog I will stick with the TV aspect to my fascination with Mr. Knievel. Basically, for anyone who grew up on Saturday Morning television Evel was far more than a stunt rider. He was a bonafide superhero who had the ability to transcend mere mortality and arise to the level of an icon. Then, he faded from the pop culture scene as his age brought him back down to mere mortality. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw TV Land air an old Toy commercial featuring Evel, but it was in horrible quality and I began to fear that the master prints of many of these commercials have been lost. Then again, even poor quality prints are better than none at all.
