When it comes to producing a political commercial designed to express a strong stance on the Cold War the legendary “Bear commercial” that Ronald Reagan offered during his match up against Walter Mondale shows EXACTLY how the commercial is supposed to be done. What makes “The Bear” commercial so successful is that it does not play to fear as much as it plays to common sense. This common sense message resonated with the GOP base strongly as well as the Regan Blue Collar Democrats who believed strongly in national defense. There isn’t much else I can say on this particular political promo spot…mainly because it is that brilliant there is little I can add to it that it doesn’t already convey.
