Who says you get things right the first time? No matter how bad you may fail at something, you could never create or do anything worse than the debut commercial of Ronald McDonald. And, no, the urban legend about Jerry Lewis having been the first Ronald McDonald was not true...Lewis would never appear in anything as bad as this commercial...and he starred in the rotten film HARDLY WORKING. (For what its worth I think the Lewis rumors started due to his appearance in the unreleased monstrosity THE DAY THE CLOWN CRIED) Yes, here is poor Ronald...he is dressed like an ABSOLUTE IDIOT and he comes off as if he is just finishing up a 12 day booze bender. This is a REALLY awful conceptualization of everyone's favorite clown and, mercifully, old Ronald tossed out the booze bottle and got his act together...eventually. You have to give them credit for scrapping the moronic first version of the clown, but this second version is not so much an improvement as it is a different interpretation. It would seem that this Ronald McDonald is a serial killer...yes, he is that creepy. And so are those rotten dolls he is hawking ($1 plus tax)
