Understanding UHF

There was something mentioned on the tribute to Dr San Guinary that really stuck in my mind: the producer equated the era of horror hosts to a time when working in television was fun. Well, I wouldn't say that working in television as a whole (cable, news, etc) is not fun but I think it would be fair to say that the glory that once was UHF television is no more. Well, I take that back….there are still a few solid and fun local television stations out there but their ability to remain competitive in the landscape of a world of 1000 channels is tough. How do you promote the local anchor as the number one man in the business when there are others on cable who are world known and make $7 million a year? This is a subject that bears further examination down the road.
