Card Sharks
I was watching GSN (formerly The Game Show Network…well, it still is) today for the first time since…oh man..1999 (even though I was addicted to it circa 1998 – 1999) and had a wonderful little nostalgic experience watching the old game show CARD SHARKS. The episode appeared to be from the early 1980's and when watching the program it is funny how such a simple program could be so funny. Basically, two contestants are asked "what percentage of people said ____" with one contestant guessing a number and then the other customer guessing whether or not the true figure was higher or lower. Such controversial questions included "How many mothers felt that commercials telling kids to eat sugar coated cereal should be banned?" Whichever contestant won out would then get 5 cards dealt to them and then guess if the cars in sequence were higher or lower then the previous card. If they got through all 5 cards they won. Nope, this was not a high concept program but it was a fun program and that is why it lasted on television for so many years. Hardly a brain bender – but very entertaining.
