After seeing how the polls completely bombed out of the
predictions for the New Hampshire
primary it becomes interesting to note how news has changed over the years. In
the past, we generally had three channels airing the news at 6am-7am, local
news 5pm to 630pm, and then national news 630pm to 7pm. Today, we have a
massive and expanding 24 cable news channel juggernaut that needs to fill lots
of time with lots of people many of whom will say anything. After all, they is
a lot of competition and lots of hours to fill. Does this mean we should harken
back to the glory days of a couple of hours a news a day? Oh no way! Granted, I
do miss the fun days when the local Anchorman was an icon as hilariously
depicted in the classic (and wildly accurate) film ANCHORMAN. But, you can't
stop progress and your can't stop errors either so the ever evolving cable news
world will always have its hits and misses.
