Reference Book Error
If there is anything I can't stand is when a reviewer fakes reviews of movies and television programs he or she never saw in the first place. I won't name names but there was a reference book that "reviewed" an old 1936 film call Hell-A-Vision and the review referred to the film being about a nightmarish look into a world of televisions. In other words, it was a cautionary tale about the evolution of the television into people's homes. This sounded like utter dopiness and I always was intrigued to see such an asinine film. Well, copies of the film have surfaced and the film ain't a cautionary tale about television. It is simply an adaptation of Dante's Inferno. Yes, that original "critical review" was SO off base it is stunning. So, if you are looking for an insight into societal fears about a world with television sets that film isn't the one for you….regardless of what a certain reference book says.
