No, the first season of Happy Days is not coming to "Over the Counter". We have not reached the point where you can get your entertainment fix through capsule form. No, OTC refers to On Television Classics and that means that the first entry in the "Official" examination of a first season will be a series that is near and dear to myself and any other human being who was born in the 1970's. If you are a member of Generation X then you truly loved the Happy Days of the 1970's. Well, let us be more accurate...you probably enjoyed seasons three onwards up until the point Ritchie and Ralph Mouth departed. The first two seasons of the series which were shot on film were more along the line of a "dramedy" mixing a half hour of light humor with drama. The mix was a haphazard one. Imagine MASH for kids. The humor wasn't quite funny and the comedy wasn't quite funny and the characters weren't quite there...yet. With season three all of this would change and an incredible television series was born. Or, more accurately, reborn once it got its act together. While I was never fond of watching the reruns of Happy Days' first season when I was a kid although the playing of rock around the clock was cool, I have to say it was not a bad series. Just one that had not found its proper format.
