Extended Version of 1978's HALLOWEEN

Back in 1980/1981 the classic John Carpenter surprise hit Halloween was released to network television where it was treated to am annual Halloween Television airing for several years. (Halloween II would later be added to this annual event) Well, as we all now, the annual airings of Halloween have long since left network television and moved to AMC. But, what many people are unfamiliar with is the fact that when the R Rated version of HALLOWEEN was edited by network censors it left the running time a little short. So, in order to make up the missing time Carpenter shot a few minutes of additional dialogue footage for the television airings. This footage was never seen on the theatrical versions of the VHS releases, but now an "extended" version of the original film has been released on DVD. It edits in the shot for television footage along with the traditional theatrical footage. Sure, the added footage is pure padding but it is still kind of interesting to see. Hey, it is better to see the footage than see it forever languish on the shelves in Universal's archives.
